[BLOODLINES]
In
1995 I Rejoined the Budgerigar Society Of South Australia, and the North East
Budgerigar Society Of South Australia, I bought a pair of birds off Stan Watson, a well known breeder and
hobbyist in South Australia, Stan had brought in “Binks” lines, and I managed to buy
a pair that were mostly “Binks”, they were not his best, but I was happy to get
them, as they had some of the features I was after.
I also picked up a pair of Albino’s from Allan Kett, who was retiring from the hobby, and was well known for his Albino’s, and this was the start of my birds.
I
decided to buy only what I picked, and not to take anything that was sent or
kept aside for me, without me viewing the birds first.
In
1999 I purchased a pair of Albino’s and a Grey cock split Albino from a
partnership in NSW, Andrew Plunkett and Tim Tasie, again focusing on their “Binks” lines.
I also bought birds from a Kelwyn Kackoshke Auction in NSW in June
1999, that were from the Channel Island Line, unfortunately I only bred
off one bird I purchased from the KK. Auction, and only got one chick, that was
to one of my hens, but I have kept that line going.
The
Albino’s I purchased from Plunkett & Tasie lines bred well, and I was
having a lot better results in the shows, and with another outcross in 2000
from Phillip Dickson from Victoria, my Albinos were getting to the bird
that I considered to be of quality.
I
then had the fortune of being introduced to Tony & Sylvia
Appleton,
they were Diploma winning breeders from over the Border in
We
Hit it off as friends, and have been ever since, Tony & Sylvia was having an auction, as
they decided to leave the hobby for a while, and I went and bought Eight birds
from their Auction, and their birds have done me very well, they seem to be
prepotent, for their features, and have blended well with my stock.
The
These
lines are the bases of my stud.
Since
writing the above, in early 2006, I have purchased a Pair of Line bred Budgies
from Garry & Marion Watson, they are well renowned Champion Breeders from N.S.W.
they were Friendly and very good host’s, Their bird room and Aviary set up was
fantastic, and spotless, and they have a good stud of birds, I am finding their
outcross to be blending in well with my Stud.
I have also been dabbling with the Yellow Faced
Blue Variety, from a fellow South Australian breeder Michael Crossley, Michael won best Yellow
faced blue in the Australian National Budgerigar Championship Show, held in
Tasmania, 2002 these are also blending in well with my Stud.
